MirrorWeb Insight customers can use the MirrorWeb Archiver for Zoom Team Chat to capture content from a monitored Zoom Team Chat workspace
Enabling Zoom Team Chat archiving will automatically capture any content and interactions within a Zoom workspace and pass them through to MirrorWeb for archiving and ongoing communications surveillance.
Prerequisites
Before starting this guide, please ensure that you have the following information:
- Log-in credentials to MirrorWeb Insight
- Zoom Basic, Pro, Business, or Enterprise account
- Advanced chat encryption must be disabled
Zoom Admin Configurations
- Enable Chat Archiving (Organization)
To configure Zoom Chat for the entire Zoom Organization:
- Login to https://admin.zoom/us, and select "My Account"
- Select "Account Management", and then "Account Settings"
- Select the "Zoom Chat" tab
- Deactivate "Code Snippet" (optional, for compliance use cases)
- Deactivate "Enable advanced chat encryption"
To enable Zoom Admins to deploy the archiving app:
- Login to https://admin.zoom/us, and select "My Account"
- Select "User Management", and then "Roles"
- Select "Admin", and then "Edit"
- Select the "Role Settings" tab
- Scroll down to "Chat Management"
- Activate "View" to enable API access for "Chat messages"
- Activate "View" to enable API access for "Chat channels"
Afterwards, your Zoom Chat settings will be enforced for all Zoom users in your organization.
- Enable Chat Archiving (Zoom Group)
To enable a selective archiving configuration (optional) whereby Zoom Chat messages are only archived for users based on their Zoom Group Membership:
- Login to https://admin.zoom/us, and select "My Account"
- Select "User Management" and then "Groups"
- Select "Add Group" and enter a new Group Name and Description
- Select the link next to "Total Members"
- Add all group members that should be subject to Chat archiving.
- Contact your MirrorWeb Customer Success Manager with the details of the Group Name for the newly created Group(s).
Afterwards, MirrorWeb will update the feed configuration in our infrastructure, which will enable selective archiving of Zoom Chat messages from users that are members of the submitted group.
Adding the app
To capture Zoom team chat data, please carry out the following steps:
- Contact your MirrorWeb Customer Success Manager with the details of your Zoom team chat workspace and the administrator email to send the app authentication email to;
- Your MirrorWeb Customer Success Manager will send an invite link to the workspace administrator asking them to authorise the application;
- You will be presented with a list of permissions that we are requesting to archive your Zoom team chat content. Click on Allow
- You have successfully authenticated the MirrorWeb archiver for Zoom team chat
Viewing content inside Insight
If Zoom team chat Archiving is enabled in the workspace, then all authenticated content will be automatically indexed within MirrorWeb Insight. As a compliance analyst, use the following steps to view only your Zoom team chat communication archives:
- Start a new search by going to Communications >> Search within MirrorWeb Insight.
- Under Platforms, select Zoom Chat as the target platform;
- Select a date range for your query, and tap the Search button;
- Click on a message on the left-hand side to view the content.
Removing the App
If you need to remove the MirrorWeb Archiver for your Zoom team chat workspace from your organization, please carry out the following steps. Please note: if you remove the app you will need to request an authentication email again from your customer success manager to reactivate.
- From your web browser, sign in to https://marketplace.zoom.us/user/apps-dashboard
- Scroll down to Added apps
- Select Nuclei for Zoom Team Chat
- Click on Disable
