This guide is an introduction to using the FileZilla application to securely transfer files. This guide can be utilised by users wishing to upload their historical data to MirrorWeb Insight.
By the end of this guide, you will have:
- Downloaded FileZilla
- Connected to your SFTP
- Begun the upload of your historical data
You will be provided with login information upon request to your Onboarding Team or Customer Success Manager. This will consist of the following details:
- SFTP Server IP Address
- SFTP Server Port
- SFTP Server Username
- SFTP Server Password
Downloading and Installing FileZilla

Ensure that you download FileZilla from the official website: https://filezilla-project.org/

Go to the website and click on “Download FileZilla Client”.
- Select the version for the operating system that you are using:
- Open the downloaded executable, and follow the instructions.
Setting up your SFTP Account

When FileZilla has been downloaded and installed, open the program and open ‘Site Manager’. You can do this by selecting File > Site Manager.
- Once in Site Manager, click ‘New Site’ at the bottom of the pop up and enter your Company Name.
- Change the Protocol dropdown from FTP to SFTP.
- Next to Host, enter the SFTP Server IP Address provided by your Onboarding Specialist.
- Next to Port, enter the SFTP Server Port provided by your Onboarding Specialist.
- Change the Logon Type dropdown to Ask for Password.
- Next to User, enter the SFTP Server Username provided by your Onboarding Specialist.
- Click Connect. A password prompt will appear.
- In the password prompt, enter the SFTP Server Password provided by your Onboarding Specialist.
- In some versions of FileZilla, an unknown host key dialog box will appear. Click OK to continue with the connection.
Uploading your archive data
- When you have connected, you will see an empty FIlezilla folder listing.
- Drag the file(s) you wish to be ingested to this Filezilla listing. You will see the progress of the upload at the bottom of the screen.
- Once the upload has been completed, please advise your onboarding specialist so that data ingest can begin.
